Academic Calendar
Calwest University has a standard academic calendar of four intakes for its MBA degree program.
| Intake Period 1 | February 1 – April 30 | (enrollment period 1 Feb – 31 March) |
| Intake Period 2 | May 1 – July 31 | (enrollment period 1 May – 30 June) |
| Intake Period 3 | August 1 – October 31 | (enrollment period 1 Aug – 30 Sept) |
| Intake Period 4 | November 1 – January 31 | (enrollment period 1 Nov – 31 Dec) |
No enrollments will be accepted once an Enrollment Period ends.
Students need special permission from student administration to enroll after Enrollment Period end.
There is no deadline date for starting the DBA degree program.
Course credits will be earned on a semester equivalency basis.
Courses can be started at anytime after a student enrolls in a degree program.
The four compulsory 'Core Building Blocks' courses that are compulsory in the MBA program at Calwest are:
Business Ethics
Global Issues
Critical Thinking
Philosophy
An MBA degree will be awarded by Calwest University upon the successful completion of 12 courses (36 credit points). This is expected to take 2 years (full-time) and 4 years (part-time) after the start date. Those with substantial credit, e.g., an MBA for CMAs, need to finish in a maximum time of 2 years part-time.
A DBA degree will be awarded by Calwest University upon the successful completion of 60 credit points and the evaluation of the thesis by two external examiners. This is expected to take 3 years (full-time) and 6 years (part-time) after the start date. Those with substantial credit, e.g., DBA for MBAs, need to finish in a maximum time of 3 years part-time.
Credits Earned in a Compressed Time Period
Due to the 24 hours per day, 7 days a week nature of a campus in the cloud, it is possible that students may learn at different paces, and some may be able to compress the time period in which they earn a degree. However, Calwest will not permit a program compression that enables students to complete an MBA degree in less than one year and a DBA degree in two years. Special permission on a case-by-case basis will need to be obtained by students who wish to compress their courses in time periods less than this and would usually pertain to those coming with significant credit for prior learning in an equivalent program.
